The internationally acclaimed psychiatrist and author of books on dementia and brain health will be holding a series of talks in the Philippines from April 25-26 in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Dr. Small is a professor of psychiatry and director of the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Longevity Center at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. “Together with my colleagues, I have conducted studies using modern brain scan technology and neuropsychological evaluations, as well as assessments of cardiovascular status, exercise levels, and dietary habits that may strengthen memory. This, in addition to other research conducted worldwide, clearly shows that while aging is inevitable, its negative consequences on health can be slowed down with the help of good nutrition and both physical and mental exercise,” he explained.

His research, supported by the National Institute of Health, has made headlines in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. He lectures throughout the world and frequently appears in The Today Show, Good Morning America, and CNN.

Dr. Small has made headlines with his lectures on the global phenomenon of digital dementia that has become prevalent among some youth. “Digital dementia is different from the dementia we see in old age caused by Alzheimer’s disease. It’s really got to do with the cognitive challenges and attention problems that result from overuse of digital technology,” he said.

He has authored more than 400 scientific publications, as well as the international bestseller, “The Memory Bible”. Among his best-selling books are “The Longevity Bible”, “iBrain”, “2 Weeks to a Healthy Brain”, “The Alzheimer’s Prevention Program”, and “The Memory Prescription”. His books have been translated into two dozen languages.

Dr. Small is also a member of the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB), which is comprised of leading experts in the fields of nutrition and health who help inform, educate and train Independent Herbalife Members and members of the public on the principles of nutrition, physical activity and living a healthy lifestyle.
